Alex Onufrak is the Associate Director of Technology Services at xFoundry@UMD, where he leads technology strategy, integration, and service development for fostering innovation within the UMD community. Prior to this role, Alex played a key part in coordinating Venture Programs at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, delivering impactful events and supporting operations and strategic growth.
Alex's entrepreneurial journey began with Solr Tech, a startup focused on creating small-scale, decentralized solar products that enhance user experience. His flagship product, the Solr Retrofit Kit, transforms standard outdoor umbrellas into solar charging stations, blending sustainability with convenience.
His venture leveraged UMD's entrepreneurial ecosystem, participating in programs like Terp Startup Accelerator and Pitch Dingman Competition, where he achieved significant recognition. Alex's commitment to UMD's startup culture extended to his role as Executive Director of Startup Shell, guiding student entrepreneurs in collaboration and innovation.
Alex holds a degree in Information Science from the University of Maryland's College of Information Studies, graduating in 2021, and continues to champion technology-driven solutions in his current role.
