UM School of Medicine (Nat’l. Center for School Mental Health)

Cindy Schaeffer is a psychologist and Associate Professor in the University of Maryland-Baltimore Department of Psychiatry. Her research centers on family-based interventions for youth engaged in serious conduct problems and substance abuse. In collaboration with a Seattle-based technology company, she has received 4 grants from the National Institutes of Health to develop and evaluate a linked parent-teen mobile app system to address youth conduct problems. The app, called iKinnect, helps parents communicate expectations, monitor youth compliance, provide appropriate and consistent responses to youth behavior, and express support to curb youth problem behaviors.
